Cookie policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

GoingOutly does not use advertising cookies. Strictly necessary security cookies set by our CDN, Cloudflare, and a few small preferences stored in your browser need no consent. In addition, Google Analytics and Yandex Metrica set analytics cookies on every visit so that we can measure how the site is used. Our cookie notice informs you about this; it does not ask for your consent. You can block these cookies at any time, as described below.

Strictly necessary cookies (Cloudflare)

  • __cf_bm. Purpose: distinguishes people from bots and protects the site from automated abuse. Duration: 30 minutes.
  • cf_clearance. Purpose: remembers that your browser passed a security challenge, so you are not asked again. Duration: up to the lifetime of the challenge set for the site.

Analytics cookies

These cookies are set by Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) when a page loads. We use them solely to measure aggregated visits and how pages are used. Advertising features are switched off. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in audience measurement, art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

  • _ga. Purpose: distinguishes visitors so that visits can be counted. Duration: 2 years.
  • _ga_<container-id>. Purpose: keeps the state of your current session. Duration: 2 years.

Yandex Metrica (Air Smart Advertising Solutions FZ-LLC, Yandex group) sets the following cookies, also when a page loads. We use them solely to measure aggregated visits, clicks and how pages are used; Session Replay (Webvisor) is switched off and we do not use Yandex Metrica for advertising. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in audience measurement, art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.

  • _ym_uid. Purpose: a pseudonymous identifier that distinguishes visitors. Duration: 1 year.
  • _ym_d. Purpose: stores the date of your first visit. Duration: 1 year.
  • _ym_isad. Purpose: detects whether your browser uses an ad blocker. Duration: 20 hours.
  • _ym_metrika_enabled. Purpose: checks that the other Yandex Metrica cookies have been set correctly. Duration: 60 minutes.
  • _ym_hostIndex. Purpose: limits the number of requests. Duration: 1 day.

The _ym_visorc cookie is only used for Session Replay, which we have switched off. Yandex also sets and reads cookies on its own domains; these are third-party cookies that we do not control. They include yandexuid, yuidss, i, ymex, usst and is_gdpr, which Yandex uses to recognise visitors and to check whether the GDPR applies (generally 1 year, is_gdpr up to 2 years), and, on mc.yandex.com and mc.yandex.com.tr, bh, which holds browser and client-hints data used by Yandex, and sync_cookie_csrf, which protects Yandex's cookie-synchronisation requests. Yandex may synchronise its identifiers across its own domains in this way (cookie syncing). The Yandex Metrica tag also sends a request to advert.gif?t=gdpr, with which Yandex checks the visitor's GDPR status and region. This list is based on Yandex's official cookie overview (https://yandex.com/support/metrica/general/cookie-usage.html) and on our own checks of the site; Yandex may change names and durations.

You can object to analytics at any time (art. 21 GDPR): block or delete these cookies in your browser settings, use a content blocker, or install Google's opt-out add-on (https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout) or Yandex's opt-out add-on (https://yandex.com/support/metrica/general/opt-out.html). You can also write to privacy@goingoutly.com. More details are in our privacy policy.

Preferences stored in your browser (localStorage)

These are not cookies. They are strictly necessary or functional, stay on your device and are never sent to us.

  • go-city. Purpose: the city you chose for “near you” suggestions. Duration: until you clear it.
  • go-lang-hint. Purpose: remembers that you dismissed the language suggestion. Duration: until you clear it.
  • go-saved. Purpose: the events you saved with the heart button; stays on your device and is never sent to us. Duration: until you remove them or clear it.
  • go-consent. Purpose: remembers that you closed the cookie notice, so it is not shown again. Duration: until you clear it. If your browser blocks this storage, the notice is closed only for the current visit.

Maps

Maps load only when you open them. The map tiles then come from OpenFreeMap; we set no cookies for this.

Partner cookies

When you follow a ticket or hotel link, you go to the partner's website, which may set its own cookies, including affiliate cookies that record that you came from GoingOutly. Those cookies are governed by the partner's cookie policy; we cannot read or control them.

Managing and deleting cookies

You can view, block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time; deleting them removes the _ga and _ym cookies too, and blocking them stops analytics cookies from being set. The “Cookie notice” link in the footer shows the notice again. Blocking Cloudflare's cookies may cause you to see a security check more often.
