Editorial policy & data sources
Last updated: 15 October 2026
GoingOutly is an automated event guide with clear rules. This page explains where the data comes from, how we process it and what we do when something is wrong.
Sources and refresh cadence
- Ticketmaster Discovery API: 36 countries, refreshed daily.
- SeatGeek: United States and Canada, refreshed twice a day.
- City of Paris open data (ODbL): every 6 hours.
- Helsinki Linked Events: every 4 hours.
- Official venue websites: public schema.org event data, crawled weekly while respecting robots.txt.
- Wikidata and Wikipedia: facts and short excerpts about venues, cities and performers (CC BY-SA / Wikidata CC0, attributed).
- Wikimedia Commons: city photos under free licences, with the author credited on the page.
- Overture Maps (CDLA-Permissive-2.0) and OpenStreetMap (ODbL): transport, parking and hotels near venues.
Duplicates
The same event is often sold by several sellers. We merge these listings into a single event page and show the available ticket links side by side.
Categories
Categories such as concerts, theatre, comedy, sports, exhibitions and family events are assigned automatically, based on the classification supplied by the source and on the title and description. Mistakes can happen; let us know if an event is in the wrong place.
How “Popular” is ordered
The Popular order rewards complete, reliable listings: whether there is a photo, a ticket link, a price, a description and a named performer, and how trustworthy the source is. It is not a ranking of sales or quality.
Independence from commissions
We earn money through affiliate links, but commissions never influence which events we show, how they are ordered or what we write about them. No one can pay for a better position.
Machine translation
Event descriptions are translated by machine with self-hosted open-source models (OPUS-MT). Translated text is labelled, and the original is always available on the page.
Photos and credits
Event images are supplied by organisers or sellers through the source data. City photos come from Wikimedia Commons, with the author and licence credited on the page.
Venue guides
Venue pages combine the venue's own event data with facts from Wikidata and Wikipedia and with nearby transport, parking and hotels from Overture Maps and OpenStreetMap. They are generated from data, not written as reviews.
