About this event
Blues in the Bar Feat Elaine Palmer takes place on Sunday, 6 December 2026 at The Georgian Theatre, Stockton-on-Tees.
ELAINE PALMER featuring JOE WILKINS
Hailing from an isolated village up on the North Yorkshire Moors, ELAINE PALMER has spent much of her life travelling back and forth to family in Phoenix, Arizona. Growing up in an old Watermill, she immersed herself in music, writing songs influenced by her surroundings both in the UK and USA. Elaine finely honed her distinctive voice and built a reputation as much for her emotive, mesmerising stage presence as for her fusion of British folk and American country styles.

Touring extensively, sharing stages with the likes of Patty Griffin, Lilly Hiatt and Seasick Steve, her two most recent releases Half Moon Rising and Some Seek Silver, Some Seek Gold have seen her working with musician and producer Mike Butler (Phoebe Bridgers, Norah Jones, The White Buffalo) at his Half Moon Lodge studio high in the San Diego hills.
'Palmer's powerful expressive voice stands comparison with Emmylou Harris.' - RnR Magazine
'Carefully constructed, strong on melody, her best work yet.'

‘With a beautifully conversational voice, an unerring sense of melody and a bittersweet and wistful repertoire, Elaine Palmer is undoubtedly a talent.’ **** MOJO
Appearing with Elaine will be internationally renowned guitarist JOE WILKINS. Joe has over 20 years of touring and recording experience. Although his roots are in Blues, Soul and Americana, the range of musical styles he's covered has earned him a reputation as a unique and diverse musician. He was described on BBC Radio as ‘a man who plays guitar like its straight out of a David Lynch movie.’
Joe has shared the stage with Walter Trout, played alongside Van Morrison and opened for Jools Holland and Don McLean on his 50th Anniversary ‘American Pie’ Tour. Since 2014 Joe has been writing, recording and touring internationally with the award-winning Elles Bailey. Joe features heavily on all four of Bailey’s studio albums, as well as the majority of her other releases. He co-wrote ‘Riding Out The Storm’, ‘If This Is Love’, ‘Love Yourself’ and ’Wildfire’ - the title track of Bailey’s first studio album. Joe’s slide guitar solo on Bailey’s ‘Medicine Man’ features on Joe Bonamassa’s Blazing Blues Guitar Solo’s’ Playlist.
Opening for Elaine will be MAT HUNSLEY who is an independent singer-songwriter and NHS doctor from Newcastle, crafting some of the most compelling alternative music on the contemporary scene.
Blending delicate acoustic arrangements with rich, atmospheric storytelling, Hunsley captures the beauty and friction of everyday life. A self-taught guitarist who draws inspiration from the likes of Ben Howard, Flyte, and Laura Marling, his sound is anchored by intricate open-tunings and real, unvarnished lyricism.
His acclaimed debut album, The Things We Need (released March 2026 by Wipe Out Music), highlights his unique perspective as a frontline healthcare worker. Songs like the poignant lead single There's Been A Death offer raw social commentary alongside personal reflection, brought to life live by his arresting vocals and captivating stage presence.
