Sonia Gomes transforme des textiles, porteurs de mémoire et d’histoires, en sculptures quasi-organiques. Nourrie par son héritage afro-brésilien, son œuvre tisse des récits sensibles, à la fois intimes et collectifs.
La pratique de Sonia Gomes s’inscrit dans son héritage afro-brésilien et repose sur l’usage de textiles usagés, qu’elle métamorphose en sculptures aux formes quasi organiques. Nourrie par des récits et des rituels transmis de génération en génération, son œuvre fait du textile un langage de soin, de mémoire et de résistance. Entre art et artisanat, elle explore les liens entre histoires individuelles et collectives, révélant la charge émotionnelle des objets. Au Palais de Tokyo, une sélection d’œuvres des vingt dernières années dialogue avec l’architecture du lieu.
