Critical Defiance ist eine chilenische Thrash-Metal-Band, die 2010 in der Region Valparaíso gegründet wurde. Verwurzelt in der Geschwindigkeit und Aggressivität des klassischen Thrash, hat die Band eine Identität entwickelt, die sich durch unerbittliche Riffs, abrupte rhythmische Wechsel, gewaltsame Präzision und einen rauen südamerikanischen Charakter auszeichnet. Nach ihren frühen Demos und ihrer Underground-Aktivität veröffentlichte Critical Defiance 2019 ihr Debütalbum „Misconception“, gefolgt von „No Life Forms“ im Jahr 2022 und „The Search Won’t Fall…“ im Jahr 2024. Auf diesen Alben festigte die Band einen kompromisslosen Ansatz, der Old-School-Aggression, technische Kontrolle und Texte vereint, die sich mit Krieg, Tyrannei, sozialen Konflikten und dem Zusammenbruch der Menschheit befassen.

Im Jahr 2026 kehrt Critical Defiance mit „Rivers of Blood“, ihrem vierten Album in voller Länge, zurück und setzt damit ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Dying Victims Productions fort. Das Album wurde in den Vardager Studios von Sebastián Palominos aufgenommen, gemischt und gemastert und enthält acht Titel, die sich um Geschwindigkeit, Feindseligkeit und die Beziehung der Band zu Valparaíso drehen. Mit ihrer ersten Europatournee, die für Oktober und November 2026 geplant ist, betritt Critical Defiance eine neue Etappe: Sie bringen den chilenischen Thrash Metal von der Pazifikküste auf europäische Bühnen, ohne den Sound zu verwässern, der die Band von Anfang an geprägt hat.
