Anja Lechner et Pablo Márquez explorent le répertoire pour violoncelle et guitare depuis une vingtaine d’années, développant un son unique, point de départ d’une série de commandes à des compositrices et compositeurs venus de toutes les latitudes.
Si développé soit-il, le répertoire pour violoncelle et guitare est un parent pauvre de la création contemporaine. Raison pour laquelle le duo Lechner-Márquez s’est lancé dans un projet de commandes mettant à profit leur exceptionnelle affinité musicale. Mais les compositrices et compositeurs auxquels ils se sont adressés ont tous des attaches multiples : ainsi du Brésilien Egberto Gismonti, en partie formé en France et travaillant avec des jazzmen et des musiciens traditionnels, ou de Konstantia Gourzi, compositrice grecque installée en Allemagne, tout comme du Franco-Argentin Oscar Strasnoy. Quant au Franco-Libanais Zad Moultaka et à l’Iranienne Golfam Khayam, ils dressent un pont entre Moyen-Orient et Occident.
