Their breakthrough came with the instrumental single “Steppin’,” which became a club favourite and established Shakatak as an exciting new force on the British jazz-funk scene. Further success followed with “Night Birds” and “Down on the Street,” while the albums Night Birds and Invitations cemented their international reputation. Their music crossed effortlessly between the dance floor, jazz clubs and mainstream radio, earning them a devoted audience around the world.

Throughout their career, Shakatak have remained remarkably prolific, releasing numerous albums and singles while touring extensively across the UK, Europe, Japan and beyond.
