For more than three decades, The String Cheese Incident has built a legacy of musical creativity, community spirit, philanthropy, and innovation. Emerging in the 1990s, as the internet transformed the music industry, the band chose to forge its own path, putting music and fans first. Pioneers in independent music, SCI developed a unique approach to building a band, using the internet to connect with fans and share tour dates, news, and music. They established their own businesses, including ticketing, merchandise, and fan travel services, to better serve their community. Through SCI Fidelity Records, the band also embraced downloadable music and file sharing, launching its ?On The Road? series to make live performances available online. Their grassroots approach helped inspire a new model for artists to build their careers on their own terms.
