Dawn: atmospheres of night and dawn, set to music by composers such as Beethoven, Debussy, Sibelius, Boulanger and Palmgren.
Pianist Maija Väisänen is a graduate of the Sibelius Academy and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. She performs actively, serves as the artistic coordinator of Vuosaari House’s Flyygelikuu programme, and teaches piano at the Sibelius Academy of Uniarts Helsinki. Maija has performed at festivals in Europe and the United States, in addition to appearing as a soloist with several Finnish orchestras.

She has won prizes at several international competitions, including second prize at the Concours Grieg piano duo competition in 2005 and a special mention at the Maj Lind Piano Competition in 2007. Examples of Maija’s recent projects include a complete performance of Poulenc’s piano chamber music, an art club in Hamburg, performances of chamber music composed by women in various productions, and the duties of artistic director at Villa Salmenranta’s summer concerts from 2019 to 2025.
Maija’s first solo album, Metamorphoses of Flowers, was released on the Pilfink label in June.
The Flyygelikuu series indulges audiences with piano music once a month in the lobby of Vuosaari House.
