Dans la grande tradition des crooners, Melvin fait revivre l’élégance et le swing des grandes voix du jazz, de Nat King Cole à Lou Rawls, en passant par Louis Armstrong, Jon Hendricks, Kevin Mahogany ou Gregory Porter.
Porté par une voix chaleureuse et une présence généreuse, il revisite les grands standards avec une interprétation très personnelle, où le chant se mêle volontiers au scat et aux jeux d’imitation instrumentale : saxophone, percussions ou guitare deviennent tour à tour matière à improvisation.
