About this event

What sort of content do children need in a world where global issues are becoming part of their everyday lives? Come along to listen and discuss!
At this discussion event organised by the Writers Guild of Finland, professionals in the fields of theatre and audiovisual arts will discuss the sort of content children need in a world where global issues are becoming part of their everyday lives. Original ideas for plays and screenplays often come from novels, but now is a good time to turn our attention to the distinctive features of the performing arts and the moving image.

How is the world of children approached in plays and screenplays? What sort of themes are explored e.g. through horror aimed at children? Have the themes or approaches of content aimed at children changed over the years?
An expert panel will discuss current trends in content for children, as well as the types of content that should be more widely available. The discussion will be moderated by playwright Tuija Töyräs.
The panel discussion is open to everyone, including parents, teachers, and students from lower and upper secondary schools. Groups from lower and upper secondary schools are advised to reserve their spots by emailing leena.karkkainen@sunklo.fi.
